Congratulations to the 120 student scholars inducted last night into the French and Spanish Honor Societies at Smithfield High School!



We would like to congratulate Ava Brule, junior at SHS, for taking first place in the US and first place in the State of Rhode Island for her winning essay from SIFMA (Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association) Foundations InvestWrite competition. This is the culminating activity for the Stock Market Game. Essays are judged by industry professionals across the nation. Congrats Ava!

Congratulations to Mrs. Tavarozzi's Algebra 1 class at GMS for being the highest scoring class in the state-wide ALEKS March Madness Competition. ALEKS is an adaptive math practice platform being used in grades 6-8, Algebra 1, Geometry and Algebra 2 this year.

Congratulations to SHS Math Teacher, Adel Cabral, who was awarded the prestigious Amedeo "Mack" DeRobbio Lifetime Contribution Award at the Rhode Island Mathematics Teachers Association annual conference. This award shines a spotlight on Mr. Cabral’s boundless enthusiasm and dedication to math, qualities that perfectly mirror those of Mack DeRobbio.

Cooking and baking club is one of the free after-school clubs being offered as part of the grant-funded collaboration between Smithfield Public Schools and the Smithfield YMCA. This club is being run by Farm Fresh RI and Johnson and Wales. These students are making veggies appealing by incorporating butternut squash into mac and cheese.


Smithfield's Teacher of the Year, Torie Caldarone, spent the day at the RI Department of Education as a part of the District Teacher of the Year program. Torie has spent the year working with teachers of the year from other districts including the 2024 State Teacher of the Year, Aimee Couto.

Mix It Up! art club is one of the free after-school clubs being offered as part of the grant-funded collaboration between Smithfield Public Schools and the Smithfield YMCA. This club is being run by Blue Door Art Studio. These students are working on shading using graphite and perfecting their drawings of eyes.
