Our Panda Pledge:

We are Kind, We are Safe, & We Work Hard!

October 16th, 2026

Dear Families,

It’s been another busy week here at Pleasant View. The pumpkins were delivered to all classrooms by the PTO for our upcoming Pumpkin Palooza.  Classrooms will begin to decorate their pumpkins for our annual courtyard display on Friday, October 28th.  Please see the Pumpkinpalooza flyer below if your family would like to donate a decorated pumpkin for our Pumpkin Palooza. Thank you!

Please feel free to send your Trunk or Treat pictures to Mrs Viera at tviera@smithfield-ps.org if you would like your child and or trunk featured in my next newsletter. Be sure to include your child’s name and the name of your trunk.

🎃 PTO Trunk or Treat – Saturday, October 17th!

Get ready for some Halloween fun! Our PVES PTO will host its annual Trunk or Treat on Saturday, October 17th! The sensory-friendly time will take place from 5:00–5:30 PM, followed by the event for all families from 5:30–7:00 PM.

We are asking families to  donate two bags of peanut-free candy to help make this event a success. Thank you for supporting our PTO and helping create a fun and memorable evening for our pandas!

As a reminder, toy weapons should not be part of students’ costumes. Thank you for helping us keep this event safe and enjoyable for everyone!

🐼 Recess Rangers in Action!

Our fifth-grade Recess Rangers are making a big difference at PVES! These wonderful students take turns visiting kindergarten recess to teach our youngest pandas fun games and activities. From Duck, Duck, Goose to limbo using a jump rope and playing with hula hoops, our Recess Rangers are helping kindergarten students learn new games, build friendships, and enjoy recess together.

We are so grateful for our fifth graders who volunteer their time and demonstrate leadership, kindness, and a true sense of belonging. Thank you, Recess Rangers, for being such wonderful role models for our younger pandas!

Veterans Day Assembly

Please fill out this form if you would like to celebrate and honor our veterans on the front lawn of our school on the morning of November 10, 2026, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.

We are looking for any veteran who is part of the Pleasant View family. Please submit all responses by Thursday, November 5, 2026.

Veterans and families who plan to attend will have chairs set up in the front parking lot.

We ask that you arrive no earlier than 9:15 a.m. due to our morning arrival traffic. Parking will be available in the Chevron near Door 4 after our buses have dropped off all students.

Following the celebration, coffee and pastries will be available in the cafeteria (door 2) for all service members as a thank-you for their service.

🌟 One of Our Very Own: Congratulations, Ben!🎄

We are excited to share some wonderful news about one of our very own PVES students! Mrs. Dohoney and I are excited to announce that Ben L. (4th grade) will be performing in A Christmas Carol at the Stadium Theatre in Woonsocket.

Ben will play Matthew Cratchit and will be part of all performances, beginning December 11th. We are so proud of Ben for pursuing his passion for the performing arts and look forward to celebrating this exciting accomplishment with him!

Congratulations, Ben! We are cheering you on and wish you the very best in your performances!

Thank You

In celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, Ms. Daniels and her students from Smithfield High School visited Pleasant View Elementary to share an engaging and interactive presentation about the rich history, culture, and contributions of Hispanic and Latino communities. Our 5th grade students learned about the significance of Hispanic Heritage Month, explored Spanish-speaking countries around the world, and discovered influential Hispanic figures. The presentation ended with a fun, hands-on experience as students learned the basic steps of Bachata, a traditional dance originating in the Dominican Republic! It was a wonderful opportunity for our students to learn from their high school peers while celebrating cultural diversity!
