#Engage, Energize, & Educate
January 31st
Dear Parents:
The Rhode Island Department of Education is currently administering its annual SurveyWorks Family Survey, which is an opportunity for family members to provide feedback about our school community and our children’s opportunities to learn. The survey results are most useful when all families participate, so we are writing to ask you to participate in this survey.
Your views on matters like the safety of your child at school, the way students are taught, the condition of the school, and how connected you feel to this school are important. By taking this short survey, you can help our school leadership and school community to make improvements. Responses are anonymous and cannot be linked to any individual; no one can tie your responses back to you.
You can take the short survey online between January 21st and March 31st. To take the survey, visit: bit.ly/ridefamily. Choose your school from the dropdown list.
If we have 70% family participation, we will have a school-wide PAJAMA DAY in April.
4 Easy Steps to Complete Your Family Survey
Step 1: Visit bit.ly/ridefamily
Step 2: You have now accessed the family survey. There is a drop-down menu in the top left-hand corner: select English, Spanish, or Portuguese.
Step 3: Click where it says select and look for your child’s school in the drop-down menu. Once you find the school, click on “Take this Survey.”
Step 4: For each question, select the answers that best apply to your experience and beliefs. Once finished, click “Submit,” and you are done!

EveryDay Speech
In kindergarten, students are learning that Social Awareness places importance on how we promote kindness and equity and how we value and treat others, especially others who may be different from us.
After completing this unit, students should be able to:
Show kindness and respect to others by using social conventions (e.g., raising your hand, taking turns, following school rules)
Independently balance personal needs with the needs of others (e.g., sharing, compromising, including others)
Begin to identify and appreciate the different abilities, skills, and qualities of others
