Dear Families,

As Governor Raimondo shared this afternoon, our Spring Recess will now take place from March 16th - March 20th. In an attempt to be proactive, our teachers have been planning for both virtual and hard copy resources to support and reinforce students’ learning in the event that our school year calendar was changed.

This afternoon, students in kindergarten through grade two went home with packets, etc. Our students in grades three through five brought home their chromebooks and various other “learning tools” deemed beneficial by their teachers. Itinerants' assignments were also sent home with every child in kindergarten through grade five.

Please know that there is no expectation for students to do any school work during their vacation week. Teachers, staff and students are all on vacation. If we are out longer than one week, these hard copy and/or virtual “assignments” will help to continue your child’s learning and hopefully offset any regression.

I will communicate a few times when I will be at McCabe next week. During these times, preschool through grade five families, whose children were not in school today, are welcome to pick up any items that were left in my office for students.

Please use this week to rest and enjoy your family. I have included a link from the CDC that provides suggestions for discussing COVID-19 with children.

Stay well!

Best,

Cathy Pleau
